AMAZE - Progress on ammonia synthesis prototype

On the 7^th and 8^th of May, our R&D team was in Krakow for the 18 Month meeting of the AMAZE project, kindly hosted by the Krakow University of Technology.

The AMAZE project aims to develop commercially attractive and safe hydrogen transport and storage technologies via green ammonia, fostering new businesses and economic growth centres. This includes creating new catalysts and designing a pilot plant to validate the technology at TRL 6, elevating existing Haber-Bosch process solutions. 

The goal is to develop a flexible, modular technology adaptable to various market demands, enhancing the flexibility and resilience of ammonia applications across diverse EU applications.

HYSYTECH leads the design, scale-up, and manufacturing of the pilot plant, encompassing the synthesis of green NH3 and its cracking. Special emphasis will be placed on the safety analysis of the system, incorporating a safe-by-design approach.

The meeting was a great opportunity for all partners to share the latest progress achieved across the different project activities, from catalyst synthesis and scale-up to thermal and electrochemical ammonia synthesis and cracking tests. The discussion highlighted the strong collaborative effort driving the project forward and the significant advancements made over the last months.

As HYSYTECH, we presented the progress on our ammonia synthesis prototype and aligned with Casale SA and the pilot host Kavala on the next steps for detailed engineering and the kick-off of procurement activities.

These moments of exchange are essential to strengthen cooperation, align technical developments, and continue building innovative solutions for sustainable ammonia technologies.
