CATCO2NVERS - Converting CO2 into added-value products
On the 7th and 8th of May, the CATCO2NVERS (EU H2020) consortium met at the Perseo headquarters in Valencia, Spain, for the 36M meeting.
Interesting and promising results from the 5 technologies developed within the project to convert CO2 into added-value products, including encouraging insights about the purification steps and the validation of the products obtained, were discussed.
HYSYTECH presented their progress on the prototypes development that are being upscaled for the valorization of CO2 through the electrochemical and thermochemical pathways. HYSYTECH will be constructing the prototypes in the next following 6 months to validate the technologies.
These technologies involve electroreduction of CO2 into Glyoxylic acid (TEC 1), bio-conversion of CO2 into Lactic acid (TEC 2), thermocatalytic production of FDME e CCFAMEs from CO2 (TEC 3-4) and CO2 conversion into Methanol (TEC 5).
All these products are widely employed in the chemical, cosmetics and plastics industries with the aim to replace fossil-based materials.
The role of HYSYTECH is within the WP5, by gathering the information and process specifications to scale-up, optimize and validate the 5 technologies at TRL5.
Stay tuned for further updates following the CATCO2NVERS channels.
