ENDURUNS - The sea surveyng vehicle tested in the water

The consortium of the partners shared the latest updates regarding the ENDURUNS project (EU H2020) at the general assembly of the 52 months hosted by NCSR Demokritos in Greece, on the 6th of March.

ENDURUNS project aims at developing a hybrid sea surveying Autonomous Unmanned Vehicle and an Unmanned Surface Vehicle, by using advanced power packs based on hydrogen-oxygen fuel cells.

Within the project, HYSYTECH is working on the development of the hydrogen-oxygen fuel cell system, to recharge the lithium battery of the vehicles for extended range.

The activities regarding the construction and integration of the AUV and the USV are arriving at the finish and the AUV was already tested for the first time in the water. HYSYTECH is working to finally integrate the PEM fuel cell fed by hydrogen within the AUV. The final tests of the AUV and USV will be carried out in the next two months for the final demonstration in Venice, Bari and Klaipeda (Lithuania).

The main ambition of ENDURUNS is to develop a system capable of operating a wide-range of marine and oceanic missions, targeting the increase of scientific knowledge as well as industrial capability and performance.

"ENDURUNS represents for HYSYTECH a new sector of extremely interest -declares Massimiliano Antonini, HYSYTECH's Managing Director-. We are very happy to contribute with this project to the survey of seas and oceans, a largely unexplored world".
