Chemicals from CO2 and sunlight: RECODE e LICROX R&D projects

LICROX

On March 17th e 18th, the partners of LICROX project (EU H2020) have been met on-line to discuss the progresses done in these 6 months from the start of the project.

HYSYTECH is the leader of the task 5.4 "Validation of the PEC prototype" and it is responsible for the design, engineering, scale-up, manufacturing and validation of the LICROX TRL5 PEC prototype.

In LICROX it will be fabricated and tested a photoelectrochemical cell (PEC), an artificial photosynthesis device for converting sunlight, water and carbon dioxide (CO2) into carbon-based molecules containing C1 or C2, capable of storing chemical energy.

RECODE

Main outcomes of the RECODE project (EU H2020) from the last months M37-M42 were discussed during the review meeting that was held on-line on March 19th.

HYSYTECH has presented the progress done in the CO2 capture unit development based on Ionic liquid and in the integration of the CO2 utilization units.

The RECODE plant will be installed at TITAN (cement industry based in Greece), will treat around 100 Nm3\h of flue gas and produce chemicals and materials from the CO2. Our electrochemical units for the production of formate and glyoxylic acid from CO2 are also under manufacturing.
