MICROBIOCHP has started, the PEC is being designed in LICROX
MICROBIOCHP
The new EU H2020 R&D project, called MICROBIOCHP, started last October 1st and the consortium met on the 8th and 9th of November for the kick-off meeting at Windhager, in Austria, which is the project coordinator.
MICROBIOCHP aims at the integration of a gasifier and a Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) for the simultaneous production of heat and electricity to be implemented in a residential building, a very interesting and cost-effective technology for energy generation. Within the project, novel catalysts and sorbent materials will be developed to be employed in our process.
HYSYTECH's role will focus on the process integration between the Gasifier and SOFC modules, by developing a solid filter operating at high temperature, a HCl \ H2S removal reactor and two heat exchangers for the heat integration.
LICROX
On the 3rd and 4th of November, the partners of LICROX project (EU H2020) have met at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) to discuss the latest developments of the project.
The LICROX project aims at developing advanced materials in order to
perform artificial photosynthesis for converting sunlight, water and
carbon dioxide (CO2) into carbon-based molecules containing C1 or C2,
capable of storing chemical energy. A complete prototype using a
photoelectrochemical cell (PEC) will be fabricated and tested to
demonstrate and validate the technology.
HYSYTECH is the
leader of the task 5.4 "Validation of the PEC prototype" and it is
responsible for the design, engineering, scale-up, manufacturing and
validation of the LICROX TRL5 PEC prototype. Currently, the design of the PEC device is ongoing and the prototype is expected to be ready for testing early in the spring of next year.
