LIFE EBP - The training school initiates the conclusion of the project
The LIFEEBP (UE LIFE Programme) consortium met in Athens on the 27th and 28th of April for the training school and the project meeting.
The training school was organized in collaboration with the Brew2Bio project; more than 150 participants attended the event, that was hosted by the Agricultural University of Athens. The projects Waste2Func, LIFE-3E e LIFE Waste4Green were also invited to present their main objectives and outcomes, among other experts in the sustainability and green chemistry fields.
During the project meeting, the consortium presented the progress on the activities related to the prototype construction, Bps (Bio-Polymers) production and testing. Progress in the economic and environmental process assessment and product registration and legislation was also discussed.
The next few months will be decisive for the project objective achievements.
LIFE-EBP is a LIFE project focused on the valorisation of municipal biowastes (MBW) as feedstock to produce new biobased products (Bps) for agriculture and the chemical industry applications.
The project will develop a mobile prototype to process the necessary MBW for the validation in real operating conditions; it will take place in four different countries (Italy, Spain, Greece, Cyprus).
The LIFE-EBP product will be validated in different applications, such as soil fertilizers, plant biostimulants \ anti-pathogen agents, biopolymers to make plastics, surfactants to make detergents.
Based on the results achieved, the project team intends to establish join ventures among stakeholders in the sector of waste management, agriculture and chemical industry, to promote the industrialization of the BPs and their use in all EU countries.
