LIFEEBP & CATCO2NVERS - Education & green chemistry
LIFEEBP
The 24M General Assembly of the LIFEEBP project (EU LIFE programme) was held on 13th e 14th of October in Limassol (Cyprus), in contemporaneous with a specialized training school.
During the GA, the last updates and next steps of the project were discussed, in particular the production of the bio-based products in Acea Pinerolese Industriale with the prototype developed by HYSYTECH for the product validation in polymers, agriculture, surfactants.
During the training school, 50 undergraduate and postgraduate students of the Department of Chemical Engineering of Cyprus University of Technology, as well as postgraduate students of the Agricultural University of Athens, assisted to very interesting speeches, regarding current developments in the field of agro-industrial and municipal solid waste valorization and bioeconomy, of several speakers of 5 different countries, including experts from 7 universities and 2 industries.
CATCO2NVERS
On 18th October, Evyap has hosted at their premises in Instanbul, Turkey, the 18M meeting of the CATCO2NVERS project (EU H2020). The partners have shown their progresses in the development of the technologies fot the CO2 conversion into value-added products at the lab scale.
These technologies involve electroreduction of CO2 into Glyoxylic acid (TEC 1), bio-conversion of CO2 into Lactic acid (TEC 2), thermocatalytic production of FDME e CCFAMEs from CO2 (TEC 3-4) and CO2 conversion into Methanol (TEC 5).
All these products are widely employed in the chemical, cosmetics and plastics industries with the aim to replace fossil-based materials.
The partners have shown very interesting results in terms of conversion and process yeld.
The role of HYSYTECH is starting within the WP5, by gathering the information and process specifications to scale-up, optimize and validate the 5 technologies at TRL5.
