New biomethane plant

New, important goals for the partnership between HYSYTECH and Acea Pinerolese Industriale.

Last June 3rd the two companies signed a contract for the construction of a new biomethane plant, capable of treating up to 1,500 Standard cubic meters per hour of biogas, which will start service by March 2020.

The plant will be installed at the Polo Ecologico of Acea Pinerolese Industriale, in Pinerolo, Italy, as part of the continuous collaboration between the companies since 2014, when the first plant in Italy producing pipeline biomethane from municipal organic waste entered into service at the Polo Ecologico.

The new plant that will come into operation in March 2020 will be able to intercept a greater quantity of biogas, allowing to riallocate the part that today is used for cogeneration. The switching from cogeneration into biomethane will enhance the overall cycle performance, since biomethane is a more efficient and sustainable energy carrier.

The biomethane will be injected into the natural gas distribution network, the network who serves the houses of the Pinerolo area, the shops, the small industries of the territory and, above all, the fuel stations selling CNG (Compressed Natural Gas - methane for cars).

Biomethane is indeed a value alternative to fossils fuels, as it is totally derived from renewable sources and does not involve the withdrawal of natural resources.

The project of the new biomethane plant, arising from the collaboration between HYSYTECH and Acea Pinerolese Industriale, represents an important step forward in the virtuous cycle of the conversion of waste into resources and stands at the forefront of the new frontiers of the circular economy and of the green chemistry.
